OUR MISSION
Through Debate, Speech and Public Speaking, our mission is to empower individuals with the leadership skills needed to drive positive change, foster collaboration, and deliver impactful results within their communities and beyond. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders who will inspire others, create lasting transformation, and contribute to a brighter, more unified future.
OUR PROGRAMS
The courses we offer are designed for students in 7th - 12th grades, who are seeking customized coaching and practice for student debate competition at all levels. Our Academy grew out of one of the most successful local programs within the debate world in the Dallas - Ft Worth area. With our students having won debate championships at every level, and a deep belief in the importance of the importance of debate and leadership skills in the growth of tomorrow’s leaders, SDLA brings these coaching programs live online, nationally, for the first time.
OUR BEGINNINGS
Our work at the Academy is dedicated to the legacy of Mrs. Glenda Ferguson, the long-time director of debate at Coppell and instrumental to the creation and operation of Coppell Debate Academy. An NSDA, TFA, and Golden Key Society Hall of Fame member, Glenda was honored many times over, winning virtually every honor a coach can receive.
Students and previous assistants remember Glenda as a true force. Her genuine love of others and passion for supporting the programs she served will never be forgotten.
